Server migration
Moving without stopping the business
What this is about
A server migration is not just copying files. Services, permissions, certificates, scheduled tasks and interfaces all have to move with it. We build the target system beforehand, rehearse the migration in a dry run and only then switch over.
What is included
- Inventory of all services, databases and scheduled tasks
- New system built in parallel with the old one
- Dry run with real data and a checklist
- Switchover outside working hours
- A way back if something does not go as planned
- Follow-up support during the first few days
Process
How we go about it.
Inventory
What runs today, what is needed, what can go?
Build
Set up and harden the target system in parallel.
Rehearsal
Complete dry run with checklist and schedule.
Switchover
Migration within the agreed window, review the following day.
Frequent questions
This is what we are often asked.
How long is the business offline?
Usually only a few minutes for the switchover, and we schedule it for the evening or night.
What happens to the old systems?
They stay switched off at first, but fully intact. Only after a probation period are they deleted, and only with your explicit approval.
Is email migrated as well?
Yes, including folder structure and calendars. The procedure is the same: build in parallel, reconcile, switch over.
Sollen wir uns das ansehen?
Ein kurzes Gespräch genügt, um einzuschätzen, was in Ihrem Betrieb sinnvoll ist — und was nicht.
