Data backup
Backups that actually come back when it matters
What this is about
Most backups have never been restored, and that is exactly why they fail when it counts. We set up a backup that runs automatically, reports when it does not run, and that we put to the test regularly.
What is included
- Backup plan following the 3-2-1 rule
- Automatic backup of servers, NAS devices, databases and mailboxes
- Versioning, so that even ransomware cannot destroy every version
- Off-site backup, transmitted encrypted
- Alert if a backup fails, on the same day
- Regular restore test with a written record
Process
How we go about it.
Assess
Which data is irreplaceable, how much downtime can you tolerate?
Set up
Define backup targets, schedules and retention.
Verify
First complete restore as proof.
Monitor
Daily check, alert on any deviation.
Frequent questions
This is what we are often asked.
How often should backups run?
As often as the amount of data loss you can bear. For most businesses that means daily, and hourly for databases.
What does off-site backup cost?
That depends on the amount of data. For a typical trade or retail business, storage costs a low two-digit amount per month.
How quickly are we back up and running after a failure?
We agree that in advance and prove it in the test. Without a test, any commitment is a promise made blind.
Does a backup protect against ransomware?
Only if the ransomware cannot reach the backup. That is why we use separate access credentials and immutable versions.
Sollen wir uns das ansehen?
Ein kurzes Gespräch genügt, um einzuschätzen, was in Ihrem Betrieb sinnvoll ist — und was nicht.
